USDLA's 'Outstanding Leader' Christine Beischel appointed to new role at the Human Capital Lab
May 22, 2009 - The 2009 United States Distance Learning Association's "Outstanding Leadership" award winner, Christine Beischel, Ph.D., has joined Bellevue University's Human Capital Lab℠ and the University's Strategic Initiatives Department as a Research Strategist.
Recognized for her significant contributions to the discipline of online learning, Beischel was presented the "Outstanding Leadership by an Individual in the Field of Distance Learning" award during USDLA's annual conference in April.
Dr. Beischel will apply her experience and expertise in online learning to this newly created senior-level position with a focus on measuring the bottom line impact of Bellevue University's learning interventions with its many corporate partners.
Beischel joined Bellevue University in 1991 as a professor and served as Associate Dean of the College of Professional Studies before being named Dean of the College of Distributed Learning in 1999. Under her leadership, Bellevue University was honored with USDLA awards for Best Teaching Online in 2006 and 21st Century Best Practices in Distance Learning in 2007.
Beischel received her bachelor of arts degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Maryland, and a master's degree in Management and Human Resource Management from Houston Baptist University. She earned her second master's degree, in Labor and Industrial Relations, and an Interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Management and Human Resource Management, Collective Bargaining, and Sociology with an emphasis in Collectives, from Michigan State University. Beischel is a certified mediator and received certification as an instructional designer from the Langevin Institute.
Prior to joining Bellevue University, Beischel managed operations for Kroger Company, Inc. and American Markets, where she developed extensive skills in human resource management, front-line conflict resolution, and oversight in matters related to union and non-union business units.
