Winter Colloquium Bridges Gap Between Finance and HR
February 18, 2009 - More than 100 business professionals participated in Bellevue University's Human Capital Lab Winter Colloquium, February 6. Finance and HR executives worked in teams in a highly interactive session designed to demonstrate how companies can best utilize employees' talents to increase ROI. The Colloquium was led by guest presenters Nancy Maresh and Judith Blair, partners of Brains at Work, a learning and performance consulting firm.
The team-building event enhanced the working relationship of human resources, finance, accounting, and operations professionals - many of whom attended from the same companies. Through hands-on activities attendees discovered how different departments of an organization view human capital and how those viewpoints can affect the company's bottom line.
"The Brains at Work session gave learning and development professionals, together with finance and accounting executives, an opportunity to see how they can partner to achieve their organizations' overall strategic goals," said Jennifer Moss, Ph.D., Assistant Director of Bellevue University's Human Capital Lab. "The session was extremely interactive, insightful, and fun for participants. I spoke with an accounting executive who thought the session offered great insight that will help him better serve his clients."
Maresh and Blair have worked with Fortune 1000 and government agencies to address learning and performance challenges, financial modeling, and organizational culture change.
Each quarter the Human Capital Lab hosts respected and renowned speakers at a Colloquium dedicated to advancing the professions of learning officers, human capital strategists, and human resources executives.
The next Colloquium will be April 28, from 7:30 to 10:00 a.m at Happy Hollow Club, 1701 S. 105th Street, Omaha, Neb.
